NEIL W. GOODSON

Biography 

Meet Neil Goodson. As an Advisor, he crafts investment strategies for private wealth and institutional clients. In addition, he guides clients through tax, charitable giving, and retirement planning. Neil also spearheads administrative and legal compliance functions and is the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.

From 2010 to 2016, Neil honed his skills as a research analyst and assistant portfolio manager at New Century Advisors LLC in Bethesda, Maryland. During his tenure, the firm managed over $2 billion in fixed income and absolute return investment strategies for foundations, corporations, and state pension plans. Neil's expertise shone in quantitative analysis, risk management, and asset allocation research.

Neil started his career in the capital market section in the U.S. Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. There, he collaborated with a team of economists, delving into research and policy analysis in the public and private equity, corporate debt, and commercial paper markets.

Education and Certifications 

Neil holds an MS in finance from Washington University in Saint Louis and a BS in applied mathematics and economics from the College of Charleston. As a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute, Neil is committed to continual growth as an investment professional. His multifaceted background and dedication to quality make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Outside of ProffittGoodson:

Neil serves several organizations in the community. He serves on the board of Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains Conservation Association. In his free time, Neil enjoys cycling, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Elisabeth, and their three young daughters.
